Dithyrambic Singers

An Enchanting Evening with Andrea Bocelli

May 2013: Despite the clash with Malaysia's 13th General Election, Andrea Bocelli's Asia World Tour 2013 - Malaysia was not postponed.

Held in Putra Indoor Stadium Bukit Jalil on the 5th of May, the Dithyrambic Singers couldn't be  more blessed to be selected as the official choir to sing in this production. This is the choir's second collaboration with the Malaysia Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO); the first was the Distant Worlds: Music from Final Fantasy in November 2012.

With a handful of music majors and voice majors in the choir, the members were definitely inspired to sing for Andrea Bocelli, one of the world's most loved tenors. It was such an honor for us to perform alongside such professionals in the same auditorium. The guest performers of the concert were amazing as well: Guitar duo Carisma, Italian female quartet Div4s, and Soprano Sabina Cvilak.

Well done, dear singers!

Distant Worlds: Music from Final Fantasy

November 2012: It was definitely a thrilling experience for the Dithyrambic Singers to sing with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra for Distant Worlds: Music from Final Fantasy concert, conducted by Arnie Roth.

It was the choir's very 1st time collaborating with the MPO and we are very honored with such collaboration. Nonetheless, we had quite a few Final Fantasy fans among us, and it was truly a dream come true to many to be involved in this production.

Repertoires involving the choir were very challenging yet exciting:

Prelude
Liberi Fatali
Memoro De La Stono - Distant Worlds
Clash on the Big Bridge
One Winged Angel

Rehearsals: The choir rehearsing with MPO and Conductor Arnie Roth.

The concert was performed with great enthusiasm, be it from the conductor, the orchestra, the choir or even the soloists. Being able to watch the excited faces and nostalgic emotions of the audiences as the music played on, it motivated the musicians and the choir as well to give our best in the performance.

Nevertheless, the choir received numerous compliments on the performance; even the conductor was impressed by the choir's performance as he did not expect such good performance from the young singers of the choir.

Looking great: The Dithyrambic Singers in their tuxedo and gowns for the spectacular concert.

The choir is very delighted and proud to have our member Ho Chi Mei and Associate Member James Long Cai Hunt chosen by the conductor himself to take the soloists' role in Opera: Maria and Draco

Thanking the audience: From left: Conductor Arnie Roth, Guitarist Az Samad,  Bass  Mak Chi Hoe,
Tenor James Long Cai Hunt, Soprano Ho Chi Mei and Stephanie Van Driesen.

It has been such wonderful and marvelous singing experience for the Dithyrambic Singers and we would definitely hope for more to come!
